Why You Should Print Your Photos This Summer

As we enter July, we head towards the hottest months of the year – here’s why you should print your photos this Summer!

It’s official – Summer has arrived!

Time to soak up the sun, relax with a cold drink and to make some exciting new memories for years to come!

There’s no easier way to enjoy everything that Summer brings than by looking over some of your photographs from years past or by taking a whole heap of new ones whilst you’re out and about.

In fact, printed photos are a lot more precious at this time of the year than you might realise!

Here are a few of the major reasons as to why you should print your photos this Summer!

Why You Should Print Your Photos This Summer

1) Recapture Pivotal Moments During the ‘Summer of Sport’

Print Photos Sport

There have been some major sports events taking place in the UK and across the world in recent years such as the World Cup and Rugby Six Nations.

2019 is no different, with the likes of the Cricket World Cup, Wimbledon, the Women’s World Cup and the Tour de France filling the next few months with a whole host of excitement and entertainment for all.

Whether it’s capturing that crucial catch that clinches a Cricket team their final wicket, a breathtaking backhand shot that cements someone as the champion at Wimbledon or experiencing a photo-finish that decides the victor of the Tour De France bike race, a printed photo brings all of these scenarios to life and more.

Whilst nothing can be quite like seeing these incredible moments live and in person, being able to snapshot them and print them off for later viewing gives you all the reason in the world to create a scrapbook or photo album to reminisce over for many years to come.

2) Share the Sights and Sounds of Summer Holidays with Friends and Family

Summer Holiday

If you’re planning to head abroad for a week or two full of sun, sea and sand or even taking a trip to the UK seaside or countryside, make sure to take your camera with you!

The Summer Holiday season is the perfect time to ditch Social Media and instead, take in the fresh air and share your experiences by taking all manner of photos including famous landmarks, beautiful landscapes and fascinating architecture.

When it comes to sharing all the sights and sounds of where you’ve spent your time this Summer with friends and family, there can be nothing finer than a custom-made postcard to send to them in the post featuring a few of your favourite printed photos.

While they may not have been there in person, receiving some printed photographs from your stay will make them feel just as much a part of the holiday as the people who travelled on the plane to get there.

3) Avoid Letting Your Memories Slip into the ‘Digital Dark Age’

Digital Code

It can be easy to assume that by storing digital photos on the cloud or on a storage device, that they will continue to be securely preserved and will be ready to view again at any given notice.

But in a recent article on PetaPixel, Internet pioneer Vint Cerf says that we may be in danger of losing large amount of digital information and our digital photos in a ‘Digital Dark Age’, if we don’t make a habit of printing them off.

He explains:

“We have various formats for digital photographs and movies and those formats need software to correctly render those objects.

Sometimes the standards we use to produce those objects fade away and are replaced by other alternatives and then software that is supposed to render images can’t render older formats, so the images are no longer visible.

This is starting to happen to people who are saving a lot of their digital photographs because they are just files of bits.

The file system doesn’t know how to interpret them, you need software to do that.

Now you’ve lost the photograph in effect.”

Cerf then summarises:

“If there are pictures that you really, really care about then creating a physical instance is probably a good idea.

Print them out, literally.”
