Meet the HP Spectre Folio

During a worldwide live-stream reveal on Monday, HP unveiled the HP Spectre Folio. But what sets their new convertible laptop apart from the rest of the crowd? Here’s a closer look.

The first thing to notice about the HP Spectre Folio is the material it has been constructed in. Contained in a bold leather exterior, the HP Spectre Folio is extremely thin upon first glance. This is due to the skeleton magnesium frame that the laptop consists of. The frame itself is attached to the leather material, creating an impressive visual effect and makes it stand out from other convertible laptops. So, what’s behind the hood?

Inside the HP Spectre Folio

Containing a smaller motherboard to most of its other laptops, HP have created the HP Spectre Folio to maintain a long battery running time. They have claimed that the laptop will last up to 18 hours of battery life once fully charged. The HP Spectre Folio also contains some other technical components that may be likely to impress. This includes an 8th Gen Intel Core i7 processor, 256GB of Solid-State storage (SSD) and 8GB of RAM. The screen is a 13.3-inch FHD display and features Intel’s latest 1W Panel to help further maximize battery running time. For those that prefer higher screen quality, HP are launching a model with a 4K resolution screen later this year.

The PC Reinvented

In a press release on HP’s website, President of Personal Systems at HP, Alex Cho, commented further on the HP Spectre Folio. “The HP Spectre Folio is the PC reinvented, achieving the perfect balance of luxury design and cutting-edge engineering. It combines sophisticated style with incredible versatility to deliver and Always-Connected PC experience our customers are looking for. HP continues to create the world’s most exciting devices that are leading the PC category into a new era of innovation. By listening to the needs of our customers and leveraging our design and capabilities, HP is setting new benchmarks for the industry.”

The HP Spectre Folio will come in two separate models – an Intel Core i5 Model and a Core i7 model. The Intel Core i5 model is set to be priced at $1,299 (approx. £1,000), with the Intel Core i7 model costing slightly more at $1,399 (approx. £1,080). A model featuring a 4k screen display has yet to be priced and a version of the HP Spectre Folio in Burgundy will be available in December.
